James A. McQueen routinely provides Of Counsel services for SHERMAN IP and acts as lead trial counsel in sophisticated controversies for SHERMAN IP’s clients. Through this long affiliation with SHERMAN IP, Mr. McQueen has become a valuable team member in SHERMAN IP’s litigation services and controversy practice and is able to engage in SHERMAN IP’s full team approach to service which provides the highest quality legal services to clients at an economical cost even accounting for the level of sophistication and complexity in the matters involved.
Practicing business litigation in California, numerous other states, and overseas for three decades, Mr. McQueen has helped hundreds of companies and individuals successfully resolve business litigation matters. Mr. McQueen’s practice combines zealous advocacy with an unwavering belief that the practice of law is about successfully helping people through the challenges of significant business disputes.
Mr. McQueen was admitted to the Bars of the State of California (1984), U.S. District Court Central and Southern Districts of California (1984), U.S. Court of Appeals 9th Circuit (1984), and the U.S. Court of Appeals Federal Circuit (1999).
Mr. McQueen received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California in 1975 where he received debate and academic scholarships, graduating with honor: Cum Laude. In 1984, Mr. McQueen received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California Law Center.
Mr. McQueen’s areas of practice include complex business litigation, intellectual property, construction law, real estate, eminent domain, employment, probate and securities at the trial and appellate level. He has successfully appeared before such diverse tribunals as The Hague, FINRA, JAMS, AAA, the ITC, the California Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit and Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition, Mr. McQueen has successfully pursued numerous matters before various state and federal courts, including many jury trials.
Mr. McQueen has been recognized by Super Lawyers as being in the top five percent of his profession. Previously, he had received the highest level of certification, an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
