She received her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law (2010). At Pepperdine, Hema was the recipient of numerous academic scholarships and was a Teaching Fellow. She served as the Lead Articles Editor for Pepperdine’s Journal of Business, Entrepreneurship and the Law.

Hema’s Intellectual Property practice primarily focuses on patent preparation and prosecution. She prepares and prosecutes domestic patent applications in a wide range of technologies, including computer technologies, neurosynaptic computing, electronics, semiconductors, telecommunications and network technologies, digital and analog signal processing, circuit design and storage devices. She also handles international Intellectual Property portfolios for various clients and provides analysis of inventive technology for procurement of patents worldwide.

Prior to attending law school, Hema worked in development of investment analytics software.

While at Pepperdine, Hema interned at the Appellate Division of the Los Angeles Superior Court for the Honorable Judge Fumiko Wasserman. She also externed at the Mediation Unit of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Los Angeles Division.

In her free time, Hema enjoys pouring over cookbooks and testing out recipes in the kitchen. When she is not cooking, she can be found either yelling at the television watching a soccer match, or digging through crates of musty vinyl at yard sales and thrift stores in search of albums to add to her record collection.
